Among rocks and “dragons”, Drakei Gorge is one of the wildest and most impressive landscapes of Samos, where nature seems to have created its own fairy tale. Giant rocks, narrow passages, natural obstacles and constant changes in terrain make this a demanding route.
On Sunday, 6 September 2026, the Hellenic Mountaineering and Hiking Association of Samos is organizing, for the first time, a guided traverse of Drakei Gorge for members and friends of the association who are experienced in this type of activity and are in very good physical condition.
This activity is not a hike and is not intended for the general public. It is an athletic canyoning route requiring concentration, endurance and familiarity with ropes and rappelling techniques. The total duration, from departure until returning to the vehicles, is at least 9 hours. The activity will be carried out with full equipment and strict adherence to all safety protocols. Very good physical condition is a prerequisite for participation.
