About this event
A rich programme of religious, commemorative and cultural events honours the historic Naval Battle of Mykale in Pythagoreion – one of the most significant moments of the Samian Revolution of 1821.
Events begin at 08:00 with the Official Flag Raising at the port of Pythagoreion, in the presence of an Honour Guard and the Military Band of the 79th ADTE.
At 10:30, the official Te Deum will be held at the Holy Church of the Transfiguration of the Saviour, presided over by the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Samos and Icaria, His Eminence Evsevios.
At 11:00, a memorial service and wreath-laying at the statue of Lycurgus Logothetis.
At 11:30, traditional dances by the Cultural Association of Pythagoreion «Lycurgus» at Eirini Square.
In the evening, the Flag Lowering at 20:00, followed at 20:30 by the grand cultural event «Meeting in Pythagoreion», co-organised by the Holy Metropolis of Samos and Icaria and the Municipality of Eastern Samos.
