Tomorrow, Wednesday 12 August 2026, at 8:00 p.m., we will travel to the Early Christian Cemetery of the ancient city of Samos, at the location known as “Glyfada”, near Pythagoreio, where we will celebrate the Holy Supplication Service to the Most Holy Theotokos, presided over by our Most Reverend Shepherd, His Eminence Eusebius.
The Early Christian Cemetery, dating from the 4th to the middle of the 7th century AD, is one of the most important early Christian monuments in Samos and an invaluable testament to the presence and faith of the area’s first Christian communities.
Among other findings at this sacred site are the tombs of the three Samian Military Saints and Confessors, Leo, Gregory and Theodore, constituting a particular blessing and a living testament to the Christian life of our region.
Tomorrow’s Holy Supplication Service is particularly significant, as it is the first service to be held at the site following the complete restoration, conservation and enhancement of the monument, carried out under the care of the Ministry of Culture during the official visit of the Minister of Culture, Lina Mendoni, in early July 2026.
And so, after centuries of silence, this sacred place once again opens its gates to receive the prayer and worship of the Church.
