The 114th anniversary of Samos’ union with Greece will be celebrated with due ceremony on Sunday, 15 November, in the presence of the President of the Hellenic Republic, Konstantinos Tasoulas.
At 08:00, the official flag-raising ceremony will take place at Pythagoras Square, with the participation of the 79th National Guard Higher Command. At 10:30, an official service will be held at the Metropolitan Cathedral of Saint Nicholas, presided over by the Metropolitan of Samos and Ikaria, Eusebios. The commemorative address will be delivered by Angela Chatzimichal.
At 11:15, a memorial service and wreath-laying ceremony will take place at the statue of Themistoklis Sofoulis, led by the President of the Republic. A large parade will follow at 11:30 along the waterfront avenue, with the participation of students, associations and units of the Hellenic Army.
Traditional dances by cultural associations will be presented at 12:30. The official lowering of the flag will take place at Pythagoras Square at 16:45.
